Filling and emptying systems

SAFE  AND EFFECTIVE FILLING SYSTEMS

the comprehensive range of Filling Systems available from Kanon Liquid Handling Ltd includes both Gravimetric and Volumetric systems and features Pivoting Arm, Multi-Jointed Arm, ‘XYZ’ Axis and also Articulated Arm design which incorporate high quality Swivel Joints supplied by our sister company Kanon Loading Equipment BV.

Our latest addition to the range is a Robotic Filling system which negates the need for Operator interaction during the filling process, thereby freeing operators for other duties and protecting them from contact with potentially hazardous substances.

Filling Systems can either be semi or fully automatic and can be designed to operate in both safe and hazardous environments covering a wide range of containers. A comprehensive selection of accessories can be added to provide a total bespoke solution. Systems can be Weights and Measures approved.

TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEMS

Technology similar to that for Filling Machines can also be applied for Drum and IBC emptying applications. If dangerous substances are involved, the complete Emptying System can be enclosed within a Fume Containment Booth and operated remotely from outside the Booth.

All Kanon Filling and Emptying Systems are manufactured using the most appropriate materials that are fully compatible with the products involved. This is particularly the case for potentially aggressive products.

Articulated Arm Filling System

A relatively simple system that uses a combination of Stainless Steel tube and high quality Kanon Swivel Joints to provide a working envelope across the Pallet of Containers being filled. The design is somewhat similar to a miniature Tanker Loading Arm.

The Lance is usually incorporated in the end of the Arm and can feature a pneumatically operated foot valve in the tip of the Lance if required.

Multi-Jointed Arm Filling System

This type of system is similar to the Pivoted Arm type but features an additional pivot point in the centre of the Frame to allow the Frame to fold back upon itself to create two arcs of operation across the top of the containers being filled. The Lance, which can be Bottom Fill if required, is fixed to the end of the outer section of the Frame.

This type of system does require an area of operation that is slightly larger than the footprint of the containers being filled.

The advantage of this type of system is that the operator controls can be fixed onto the end of the outer section of the Frame and are therefore, readily accessible for ease of operation.

Pivoting Arm Filling System

In this type of system the Gate shaped Frame, onto which the Lance assembly is mounted, is pivoted where it attaches to the Mast to allow the Frame to swing in a single arc across the top of the containers being filled.

The Lance, which can be Bottom Fill if required, is mounted onto one side of the Frame and slides along the Frame to create the required working envelope.

The main advantage of this system is that the Frame remains largely within the working envelope above the containers during filling and does not encroach excessively into the free space outside the working envelope.

‘XYZ’ Axis Filling System

The main difference with this type of system is that the Frame to which the Lance is mounted is not pivoted onto the Mast but instead is mounted onto an additional Frame installed across the rear of the working area.

The Lance Frame can slide in a Left/Right direction across the Rear Frame to allow the entire footprint of containers to be covered. Front to Rear coverage of the working envelope is provided by sliding the Lance backwards or forwards along the Lance Frame in a similar way to a Pivoted Arm type of system.

Another advantage of this system is that a second Lance Frame can be mounted onto the Rear Frame to provide a Twin Head Filling System if required.

The provision of a second Lance can speed up the filling operation as the second Lance can be positioned above the next container to be filled whilst the first Lance is still filling the previous container.

Changeover from the first Lance to the second is controlled automatically.

Robotic Arm Filling System

The absolute ultimate in Filling Systems. With this system a Pallet of containers, or an IBC, is transferred to the filling point automatically.

Once the Containers are in position, the Robotic Arm removes the Bungs from the containers, fills the containers and then replaces the Bungs in them.

Once all the containers have been filled, the Pallet or IBC is transferred automatically to a point where it can be picked up by a Fork Lift Truck.

The Robotic Arm system eliminates the need for any operator interaction during the actual filling operation and is particularly suited to the filling of hazardous or toxic products where operator exposure must be kept to a minimum or eliminated completely.
